VISIONING: Becoming a Life Change Artist
After a tumultuous 2011 which most of us have survived, the beginning of the year 2012 has brought a wonderful gleam of brightness and hope as I usher in to complete my old and new projects. I found a new network of mentors who started providing me support, wisdom, ideas, love and energy fueling my passion to create and never lose sight of my vision! I am now compelled, energized to leave behind me the enemy of procrastination (Hmmmm). I feel so blessed to be in the company of artist friends, colleagues, and a creative community that encourage each other to create and pursue dreams.
As I glanced at my vision board, I can see a couple of things evolving, progressing. WOW! Awaiting for its completion. Definitely as an artist I am all out for visual aid which truly is very empowering. Although it can also be overwhelming at times because I wanted things to happen yesterday. LOL! I have learned that this is usually not the case. However miracles can also happen for many reasons. And by all means I am not discounting that.
I have gleaned from the wisdom of a coach who once told me that it is is one baby step at a time that would eventually lead from one milestone to another. Fear not, take courage as I proceed towards the path I have chosen... one step at a time. For example how do I handle not being overwhelmed in finishing my business plan, or creating a new body of work, marketing my artworks, implementing a game plan that works? Isn't that overwhelming?
I have learned by asking one question to myself: What is my next step for this one project today? And all I need right now is that one step to finish. And so on and so forth.....one hour at a time or even one day at a time.
In the past three months I had this dream to finish a series of charcoal sketches which I started a few years back. But never accomplished it. Always dreading that I have to finish 20 of these to make it a collection. I was already preparing myself to be discouraged and I dismissed the idea. For some reason two nights ago I picked up my charcoal sticks and started doodling. To my surprise I created a second charcoal drawing! YES! Now my next step is to create one more....
Till next time... I will have 20 charcoal masterpieces to brag about.
